Samba do Partido-alto, Partido-Alto or simply Partido, is a samba style that emerged in the early 20th century within the process of modernization of urban samba in Rio de Janeiro. It has its origins in the African umbigadas and is the form of samba that is closest to the origin of Angolan batuque, Congo and nearby regions. Despite being one of the most traditional samba sub-genres, there is no consensus between practitioners and scholars, less or more erudite, to define what this derivation of samba would be, much also because of the changes it has undergone from its origin to the present day. .
